Fr. Adam Urbaniak is a native of central-western Poland. He was raised by strong catholic parents, Kazimierz and Bozena, who supported his sacramental initiation through their home parish of St. John the Baptist. He has two older siblings, Lidia and Darius, and is blessed with four nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces, and two great-nephews. Fr. Adam graduated from the School of Economics and Administration in Pleszew (College), Poland, and the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, Poland, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy (B.Phil).
He began his priestly formation at the Primate Seminary in Gniezno, Poland but decided to become a missionary priest in the United States of America. After traveling over the Atlantic Ocean, he obtained his Master’s Degree in Theology (M.Div.) at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Michigan.
Fr. Adam was ordained to the Priesthood in 2014 by the Most Reverend Roger Morin, Bishop of Biloxi. His first assignment was to the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Biloxi. In 2015 he was assigned as parochial vicar of Our Lady of the Gulf Parish in Bay St. Louis and coordinated a diocesan pilgrimage for the World Youth Day with Pope Francis in Poland. He became the pastor of the Holy Spirit Parish in Vancleave and Christ the King Church in Latimer in 2016.
Most Reverend Louis Kihneman, Bishop of Biloxi, appointed Father Adam as the pastor of Our Lady of Victories Parish in 2018. Fr. Adam also became the leading pastor of the Resurrection Catholic High & Mid School in Pascagoula. In addition to parish ministry he was appointed a member of the Diocesan Presbyteral Council in March of 2020 and the Diocesan Vocation Director in May of 2016. He also served as a state deputy chaplain for the Knights of Columbus in Mississippi for four years. He has done a number of parish missions and retreats.
Fr, Adam’s priestly motto is “In te Domine speravi: non confundar in aeternum” (In thee, O Lord, have I trusted: let me never be confounded.) His favorite hobby is traveling, mountain hiking, and reading. Above all, however, he enjoys youth ministry and catholic school education. He loves our Resurrection Catholic School and very much enjoys his assignment at OLV.
