Deacon Mike Gilly is a life-long member of this parish and the city of Pascagoula. He is the second son of the late Jo and Shannon Gilly, Sr. He is retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding with more than 36 years of service as a Planner-Scheduler IV. He is graduate of Pascagoula High School, Class of 1970.
Deacon Mike was ordained a Permanent Deacon on June 22, 2009 by the late Bishop Roger Morin of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi, and has been assigned to this parish ever since his ordination. He is very active in Jail ministry at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center.
Deacon Mike is a Past Grand Knight of the Msgr. P.J. Carey Council No. 1605 and a Past Faithful Navigator of the Fourth Degree Assy No. 0561. He is a Former Master of the Mississippi District Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus.
Deacon Mike’s wife, Karen, died in 2012. His eldest twin son, Michael Anthony died in 2005. His children included Jennifer (Lester) Charbonnett; Kelli (Steven) Miller; Josh (Michele); Derek Andrew Medjesky and Bryan (Sydney). His grandchildren included: Courtney, Carli and Mac Charbonnett; Tucker, Grafton and Sawyer Miller; Ethan Michael Gilly; Julieanne and Christian Gilly; Eisele and Case Gilly and John Michael Lucas (Great-grandchild, son of Courtney).
